IPTV on Lg TV: Complete guide and walkthrough
LG TVs run webOS. Like Samsung, they can't sideload Android apps, but the LG Content Store has several solid IPTV players, and a few of them let you log in right from the remote.

IPTV on Lg TV: Check your webOS version first
Press the Settings button, then go to All Settings, then General (or Support), then About This TV. Note the webOS version:
- webOS 6 and newer (2021+): the widest choice of players and the newest versions.
- webOS 4 to 5 (2018–2020): most major players still install.
- webOS 3 and older: expect a limited selection. A Fire TV or Google TV stick is usually the better experience.
Finding a player in the LG Content Store
- Press Home on the remote and open Apps (the LG Content Store).
- Use Search and type IPTV or the name of a specific player.
- Install the one you want. Popular choices on LG include IBO Player, Smart IPTV, SS IPTV and Duplex Play. Availability changes over time.
The setup style splits into two groups.
IPTV on Lg TV: Players that link through a website
IBO Player, Smart IPTV and Duplex Play show a MAC address (and sometimes a device key) when you first open them. You then go to the developer's official website on your phone, enter those codes, and add your M3U link or Xtream login there. Restart the app and your list appears. Our IBO Player guide walks through each step, including what to do if the playlist doesn't show up.
Players that log in on the TV
Some players let you type the Xtream server, username and password with the on-screen keyboard. The Magic Remote's pointer makes this much easier than arrow keys. Just aim and click each letter.
Make live TV look right on LG
LG's default picture modes are tuned for showroom floors. A few changes help streamed TV a lot:
- Picture mode: choose Standard or Filmmaker Mode for movies, and Sports only if you like a brighter, punchier look for games.
- TruMotion: set it to Off or Smooth with low de-judder. High settings cause the "soap opera effect" and can create artifacts on compressed live streams.
- Noise reduction: turn Noise Reduction and MPEG Noise Reduction to Low for HD channels. That softens compression blockiness without smearing detail.
- Quick Start+: turning it off uses a bit more time at power-on, but a full restart clears app memory, which helps if the player gets sluggish after days of use.
Network tips specific to LG
Many LG TVs show a weak Wi-Fi signal because the antenna sits behind the panel near the wall. If you see buffering:
- Check signal strength under Settings, then Network, then Wi-Fi Connection, then Advanced Wi-Fi Settings.
- Connect to your router's 5 GHz band rather than 2.4 GHz.
- Use Ethernet if a cable can reach. Even a basic wired connection is steadier than marginal Wi-Fi.
If the guide grid shows "No information," the player isn't receiving guide data. See how the IPTV TV guide works for the fix.
When choosing a reliable IPTV on Lg TV, verifying network peering and server routing ensures optimal playback stability.
Our technical team continuously tests each IPTV on Lg TV configuration across multiple hardware devices to eliminate buffering.
Frequently asked questions
Which LG TVs can run IPTV apps?
Any LG smart TV with webOS 3.0 or newer, which covers most models from 2016 on, can install players from the LG Content Store. The newest selection is on webOS 6 and later. Very old NetCast models have almost no options.
My LG TV shows 'This app is not supported in your country.' What now?
Store listings are region-specific. Make sure Settings, then General, then Location, then LG Services Country is set to United States. If the app still isn't offered, choose another player or use a streaming stick.
Does LG OLED handle 60 fps sports well?
Yes. OLED panels have extremely fast response times, so fast motion stays sharp. Turn TruMotion off or to a low setting so the TV isn't adding fake frames on top of a 60 fps stream.
